About us

Hello

My name is Deborah (Deb) Olson, and I am the Executive Director of Supported Living Partners LLC.  I opened this agency because I have been a passionate provider of Individuals with IDD for over 20 years.  Developing a career in Human Services was a goal of mine not long after I personally had my own challenges with raising a young boy with multiple complex disabilities.  Already having three children prior, it was not long before I realized there was more going on than the geneticist led on to.  The years long battle for appropriate services continued, which eventually led the challenges to become clearer.  Today that young man is now 22, is thriving and happy, and with the assistance of the Supported Living Program, is able to stay in his own home, and continue to live as independently as he is able.

My Story

My story and journey are not unique.  In fact, in both my college programs,  I met others who also had the same struggles; a person they support or loved, was differently abled, and there was no congruency between the school and medical community to get an accurate diagnosis.  This makes the already challenging demand for 24/7 supports even more critical, as many times the outcome for these individuals depends on the supports and services they receive.

Having services for supported living can be a great addition to an individual’s service plan, but it takes more—it takes providers!  Providing supports for an Individual with IDD is not a coveted position for sure; the work is difficult on good days and seems unrealistic on challenging days; there are some who need more physical supports, say for example if they are wheelchair bound, however, the rewards are priceless.  Getting smiles, hearing words come from those who are basically non-verbal, reaching a new level of independence, and for some, exciting outdoor excursions such as camping, boating and fishing can also be magical for a person with IDD—that is when the work does not seem impossible.

Our providers will start at $25.00 per hour after completing all state required trainings.  After the successful completion of 90 days of full time employment, that wage will increase to 26.00 per hour.

We are a small agency and just opened in December of 2021 but will take up to 15 new clients for services, which means we will have at least 15 openings for Direct Support Professionals.  Seeing people make a living wage is one of our goals for our agency, and when we can work to see others have that opportunity, I will feel like we have accomplished that goal!

Thanks for visiting!
